I grew up listening to Ron Stuart on the radio before I moved to the States. And then after returning to Taiwan as a recent college graduate, I had the opportunity to work with Ron side by side. That was 10 years ago! Since the beginning of 2007, I’ve received one too many wedding news and honestly I don’t’ really care much for most of them. Aside from JS mega wedding in May, the news of Ron & his lovely girlfriend getting married has gotta be the best wedding news this year!
The most desirable bachelor on air is going to get hitched! Wow, I’m getting dizzy just thinking about it. And yet I’m thrilled for Ron & his girlfriend for the following reasons: 1. they have been together for years and it is the natural progression to tie the knot; 2. Ron is such a wonderful person that he deserves only the best and nothing less. I don’t know anyone in my life who is always as hyper and chipper as Ron. It’s like he is always in a good mood no matter what. I would love to know the tricks so that I can always be in a good mood and not bothered by anybody or anything!
Speaking of wedding news, I must take this opportunity to congratulate Annie L. I’m very happy for you that you’ve found the one and you deserve to walk down the isle as heads turn to see how beautiful you are!
Moving on to a wedding related news,「License to Wed」starring Robin Williams will be released in Taiwan starting August 3rd. This flick has perked up a lot of interests because of Robin Williams. When I mention to my friends that I just saw it during a media screening, literally everyone’s question is: 「How’s Robin Williams?」
Most moviegoers will be drawn to this flick as soon as they find out that Robin Williams is the leading actor. And yes, he steals the whole show and this movie will be dull if it weren’t for Robin Williams’ performance.
So, to answer your question about Robin Williams’ character as Reverend Frank he made me laugh so hard that the entire theatre could hear me! There’s one scene when Sadie introduces Ben to Reverend Frank. And Reverent Frank says, 「So Ben, what have you been doing besides little Sadie here?」
I don’t think most people in the theatre figured that one out. I could hear my own laugh throughout the theatre ‘cuz no one else was laughing. So, you should pay more attention to simple lines like that. You just never know what’s gonna hit you. And from then on, I knew I was in it for a treat. Robin Williams just kept the punchlines rolling! He’s unstoppable!
I wonder how many people have heard about marriage preparation course but I had taken the class before. No, I have never been married if that’s what you’re thinking. However, back in college we had to sign up for the Bible, world religions, or marriage preparations as part of our curriculums.
The Bible would put me to sleep in no time and the nun who was teaching the class didn’t like girls who wore their skirts too short. World religions would be a lot of readings as assignments and I actually believe that the origin of all evils comes from religions. You look back in history and you’ll find out that almost every major war in the last thousand years or so is all due to religious differences.
Then there’s marriage preparation class. From what I was told by my counselor, it would be an excellent course for me since I was dating aggressively and extensively (LOL). By the time I completed this class, I would have in-depth understanding on love, relationships and everything else that comes with it. Hey, this sounds like my kind of class!
If you are curious what I learned in the marriage preparation class, you can find out all about it in「License to Wed」. It is very similar to my class, including how to get to know your in-laws beyond the superficial level (this is important because c’mon, let’s face it – most people can say absolutely nothing nice about their in-laws!) and what it takes to have a happy and long-lasting marriage.
「License to Wed」has Reverend Frank to conduct the course and I had Father Jack to lead the prep. class. I remember during one session Father Jack asked us to make a list of Pros vs. Cons. And let me tell you, all hell was about to break loose!
I started writing down all the wonderful things about my boyfriend. Making a list of his charming qualities reminds me of how I fell for him for the first time. It was like going through the honeymoon period all over again inside of me. Then I thought, 「What a wonderful world! How nice it is to be in love!」
The sweet and warm sensation ended promptly as soon as I began writing down what I didn’t like about him. And Bam! The list just went on and on and soon enough, I was running out of space. And the more I thought about his stupidities, the more I became upset with myself. I couldn’t remember why I dated him!
I must admit that everything I learned in this course has helped me to clear all road blocks on the road to true love quickly and identify incompatible suitors within seconds. It directs me to look at marriage from all perspectives. I’m always amazed when I hear married couples argue about how many kids they want. Isn’t that something you discuss before walking down the isle hand in hand? I crack up when newlyweds complain about their in-laws. Isn’t that something you should have found out before you started calling them Mom & Dad?
With the divorce rate rising to an all-time high, I think this marriage 101 course will help a lot of newlyweds a great deal and best prepare them for what’s coming ahead. Of course there are people who want to get married for all kinds of wrong reasons. This class will clear the heads of those who were head over heel and stop them from mistaking a slob for life for a spouse for life!
Last but not least,「License to Wed」 will guide you through all the important steps in marriage preparation and you will never look at your personal relationship the same again! Even if you’re currently single, you’ll get good laughs out of this movie and it can best prepare you for what lies in the near future.
