In San Francisco Now

It's been two years since I last set foot in San Francisco. Even though I was born and raised in Taiwan, San Francisco feels more like home to me. I've left my heart in San Francisco once too many and I always manage to find ways to come back here.

I left Taipei on Friday, March 3rd. Jack was sweet enough to take me to CKS airport despite it was a working day for him. Very thoughtful of him....I'm very touched. I definitely feel loved =)

The night before my departure, I was in 9% - a new hip hop club in Taipei - with my colleagues from the TV shopping network. I had on this teeny tiny black shirt dress from bebe. This dress has been with me for more than 10 years now. And it's amazing that it's loose on me. Ingrid and I danced like no one was watching and bust out moves that got all the boyz screaming for more!

The party ended at 2:30 followed by a late night trip to a seafood joint where I had the best BBQ snails. Heavenly!

I got home around 4 pm. I took a hot bath and had some relaxing and quiet moments after a long night dancing in the club. Within a hour, I was out again. This time it's coffee / breakfast time with Toyo in New York Bagels. Our meeting was cut short when Jack called to tell me that he's on his way to my house.

This journey from Taipei to San Francisco seemed extremely long, especially the four hours I spent in Hong Kong during transit. On top of that, I couldn't get any sleep on my way to San Francisco. I was surrounded by babes...crying babies. To make the matters worse, it was a full flight. Not a single seat vacant in coach class. This is not what I would call a pleasant flight.

When I walked out, Leo was sitting right there waiting for me. He couldn't believe hie eyes. "It's like I'm looking at you from 10 years ago!" He just seemed SHOCKED.

As we drove out of the airport and headed to San Francisco, I felt good. At last, I'm here! My friends seem exicted about seeing me again and even the weather turned out sunny as part of the San Francisco greetings! On the way home, the views from the ocean put a smile on my face. This is what I've been longing to see in two years!

Friday night we went to Morton's Steakhouse. I've been there a long time ago. Have you ever seen the meat they serve you? It's crazy. HUGE. No wonder people in America are growing bigger and bigger.

In the past I never experienced jetlag unti now. I was up for 48 hours without sleep and finally went to bed on Saturday 6 AM. I woke up at 5 pm and missed out all the sunlight. Luckily we were invited to Manuel's house for dinner where they served us prime ribs from Harry's. Yummy!

Sunday I got up at 2. That's major improvement comparing to yesterday. Dave cooked brunch for us and I got to read my favorite Sunday newspaper. The Oscars started at 5 pm and I decided to stay in to watch the ceremony. The touching moments came when Ang Lee won the Oscar for Best Director. He made us proud. Taiwanese people around the world must be extremely proud of our roots and we thank Ang Lee for taking us wherever he goes. Embrace your heritage!

Starting tomorrow, I'll be meeting friends for lunch and dinner. For some reason, most of my friends don't know each other and that's why I can't have them meet me all at once. Lots of drinking, eating, and partying on the way!

It's good to be home at last. San Francisco, my home sweet home!
