To Cook or Not To Cook

Last Sunday I decided to have brunch at a vegetarian buffet restaurant. I had just finished getting a two-hour facial. My face was glowing!

A grandmother along with two teenage boys sat at the table next to me. She was friendly and tried to make a small talk while her grandsons were busy with chow.

Granny: You're beautiful!

Me (feeling quite pretty! That facial was worth every dime!): Thank you!

Granny: Are you married?

Me (feeling embarrassed): Uh...No...I wish...

Granny: You're kidding?!?! That's okay. It's not a good idea to get married at a young age anyway.

Me (feeling confused): Hmmm, I'm not that young. I just turned 31 last month.

Granny: That is YOUNG! I can tell that you must come from a good family by looking at you.

Me (feeling slightly proud! My folks have done a good job!): Thanks. My parents will be happy to hear that.

Granny: I bet that there are a lot of suitors after you!

Me (feeling small): No...I have ZERO suitor.

Granny: You must have a high standard then. Men probably think that they are not good enough for you.

Me (feeling a little offensive): WHAT?! It's not that. I wonder if that has anything to do with the fact that I DO NOT COOK! I hear that the key to a man 's heart is to conquer his appetite.

Granny: No No No. I'm 75 this year and I have been married for 50 years. I don't cook either!

Me (feeling lost for words): Okay...

(L to R) Vincent, Me & Arthur
I have four designated "husbands" at work. This photo features #1 (Arthur) and #2 (Vincent). It is a habit of mine to name at least "one husband at work"; it makes going to work more fun & interesting!
