My premonition tells me that 2007 is going to be a very busy year. I left Taipei late Thursday night and boarded an EVA flight to LAX. Normally SFO is my destination. However, due to some last minute changes, LAX is the best way to go. It's been years since my last visit to LAX. And I must be spoiled by the brand new spacious SFO. LAX is like a traditional market because it's got all kinds of odors. It was almost unbearable!
Ever since I started traveling at a young age by myself, I always worried about being stranded at the airport. My concerns have always been either my designated person didn't show up to give me a ride or he / she simply forgot.
My connecting flight from LAX to SFO didn't get in 'till almost midnight. And I wasn't sure if my ride was going to show up because he'd told me that he's been super busy lately and he had very little sleep for the past week. When I walked out the airport and waited by the curbside, a burgundy Honda CRV pulled up and it was my friend Wallace!
This time around my plan is to stay with Wallace. He and another friend came to Taipei for my birthday last November and they stayed with me during their first visit to Taiwan. So he's very generous and offered to let me stay at his house for as long as I like.
It turned out that my worry was unnecessary 'cuz both my designated ride and my host showed up! I feel so loved!!!
After I was dropped off at Wallace's, he made me some hot noodle soup and opened a bottle of red wine. We sipped fine wine and chatted 'till almost 5 AM! 'Cuz, ya know...once a wine bottle is open, we won't rest 'till it's finished!
What a fabulous way to kick off a vacation!
